Football Equipment

While filled with a variety of equipment available in later catalogs, the 1954 Wilson Football Equipment catalog contains some interesting differences. Most dramatically changed was the football helmets compared to 1953-54 Fall and Winter. The Pineapple Stitch in their athletic hose is still available (cancelled in 1958), and on page 47 (49 of the scan) you will see they used mannequins with painted faces to show off the sideline capes and coats instead of humans. Note the giant listed-as-unbreakable face-covering plastic masks on page 16 (18 of the scan): one wonders why those aren't used anymore.
